Grade One Print Cityscapes

For their unit on ‘Maps’, Grade One classes looked at how maps help us find out where we are and where we are going.

In Art, they looked different kinds of building that make up a town or a city. They designed their own buildings and then transferred these designs onto polystyrene. The polystyrene was inked with rollers and used to print their own ‘cityscapes’ and a map of a city. Here are some pictures to illustrate the process.

Grade Three and the Art of Vincent Van Gogh

Grade Three classes have been looking at inspirational people in their classes. In Art, we looked at the Art of Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh is an artist who has inspired so many people with his life and art. We looked a little bit at his life and how his work changed over time. We found that he used dull colors in the beginning but his colors got brighter over time. He also used lots of lines in shades of colors to create movement in his painting. We, then, chose our favorite painting to copy. These paintings will be displayed near the entrance soon. Please come and see them.
